i Can values be derived from facts alone? can _ought_ fall out of _is_?

o i think the values and qualities of something can be derived by simply experiencing that thing. for example, the core values of a particular tree can be very easily discovered by sitting next to it in the park for a while. so, if one's experience of something is "fact" enough, then yes

i can the sun justify why it rises in the morning?

o i think a sunrise, just like every other process of the universe, justifies itself. the fact that a sunrise happened at all is all the justification that could ever be given to or needed by someone that might also be wondering "why is the universe here? what's the reason?"

o my favourites in any category change so so often due to wildly intense recency bias. knowing this.... project hail mary was so pretty to look at (and the book kicks ass too)

o been thinking about this one for a few minutes, and i'm really not sure. i think it would depend on whether "action" is referring to how one acts or simply the fact that a person acted at all. and justified to whom? this part feels like a whole different can of worms, because many actions seem to be performed with subconscious self-justification rooted deeply in a person's psyche. attempting to justify actions to someone else becomes a whole different ball game that may or may not line up with that internal justification. but i'm not totally sure. so speaking of incoherency,,,,

o it's the same reason anything exists; it's the same reason the entire universe exists. which is to say, because..... it does. art is one of countless ways in which the universe expresses itself through itself, which automatically makes it both wonderful and awful and awesome and scary and immensely immensely meaningful (or smthn like that, still working out my thoughts on the matter tbh)
